The EURO<26 Romania took the opportunity of forty national youth card organisations being present at the General Assembly of EYCA (European Youth Card Association) in Bucharest and on May 29, 2008 organised a forum to discuss European experiences and a national vision for Romania in youth policy. The one-day seminar was held in the People’s Palace.
The purpose of this high-profile event was to understand how youth policy can support opportunities for young people in Romania based on the knowledge and best practice of EYCA member organisations. Representatives of both institutional partners (National Youth Authority, National Agency for Supporting Youth Initiatives and Youth in Action Department) as well as NGO partners (Romanian Youth Council, Romanian National Alliance of Students’ Organisations and others) were present in the House of Parliament for a full day of presentations and discussions.
The President of EYCA, Wolfgang Schick, and the General Director of EURO<26 Romania, Mugurel Stan, welcomed the more than one hundred participants. Among prominent speakers we had the honour to host Peter Kovacs, Secretary of State and President of the Youth National Authority; Anne-Marie Le Claire, representative of the DG Education and Culture of the European Commission; Tina Mulcahy, Executive Director of the European Youth Centre Strasbourg and last but not least delegates from EYCA’s partner organisations: Raluca Voinea (Eurodesk) and Davide Capecchi (ERYICA).
A big thank you for sharing their view on youth laws and policies, participation, and information for young people goes out to EURO<26 member organizations from Finland, Luxembourg, Scotland, Turkey, Spain, Austria, Greece and Russia.
