Read more: The forerunner of EYCAdemy, Youth Builds Europe (YBE) was a project that answered two main questions: How can young people contribute their ideas and opinions to policy - that is, how can they participate - and how can policy makers find out what is really important for young people.
The Youth Builds Europe pilot project used qualitative research to explore the values of young Europeans as well as their attitudes toward the EURO<26 youth card. The concept was based on focus groups. In group discussions, young people aged under 20 were invited to talk in a friendly setting about their wishes and opinions.
YBE started in seven countries (Austria, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Poland, Slovenia, Spain, Wales). Building on the success of Youth Builds Europe, EYCA launched a new project in January 2005, the EYCAdemy, which establishes a permanent structure for youth research within the EYCA-network. It does this by establishing a Europe-wide panel of youth researchers working with focus groups. 17 countries from across Europe are already involved in the project.
