On 01 June 1993, a permanent Secretariat for EYCA was established in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. In 1999 - following a decision of the 1998 Conference in Cascais, Portugal - the secretariat was enlarged to become the EYCA Office.
In 2003, the decision was taken by the General Assembly during the conference in Edinburgh to relocate the EYCA Office from Amsterdam to Budapest. And so, in 2004 - the year that saw 10 new countries in Central and Eastern Europe join the EU - the EYCA centre moved to Budapest, Hungary.
In October 2007, the General Assembly in Barcelona decided to relocate the EYCA Office from Hungary to Slovakia. The Office moved to Bratislava in January 2008.
