The European Youth Card for Erasmus+ volunteers

Working in partnership with the European Commission, EYCA supports all young people volunteering in Erasmus+ projects by issuing a special Erasmus+ edition of the European Youth Card for them.

Erasmus+ volunteering projects are open to all young people aged 18 to 30. Participation is free - volunteers also get board and lodging covered, insurance free of charge and pocket money for the duration of the project. The Erasmus+ programme covers almost all countries in the world and the project can last up to 18 months. By participating in voluntary activities, young people can develop new skils and, therefore, improve their personal, educational and professional development. Plus, all volunteers receive a Youth Pass as a certificate of their learning experience during their service.

To find out more, please visit the European Youth Portal or European Commission website introducing mobility opportunities for young people through the Erasmus + programme.

Are you an Erasmus+ volunteer? Read on!

The card you receive as a volunteer is a special edition of the European Youth Card dedicated to the young people in Erasmus+ projects. It is a thank you for your service from the European Commission and the European Youth Card Association.

Your Youth Card allows you to spend less and experience more during your service abroad. It's packed with over 60,000 discounts on culture, travel, accommodation, sports and much more in 36 countries across Europe. In most cases, you can use your European Youth Card in your hosting country and at home. We are working hard to introduce the card in all European countries as soon as possible.

The card is issued to all volunteers up to the age of 31, with a validity period of 18 months (or until the last day before the volunteer's 31st birthday).

How it works

Each month, EYCA receives a list of volunteers who are about to start their service, after they have been registered with the insurance company by their sending or hosting organisation.

The cards are sent out monthly. Depending on the time the volunteer is registered with the insurance company, their card is delivered within the first or second month of their service. The sooner the volunteer is registered with the insurance company, the sooner they will receive the card.
