The European Youth Card for the European Voluntary Service

Working in partnership with the European Commission, EYCA supports all young people in the European Voluntary Service by issuing the EVS European Youth Card for them. The European Voluntary Service is open to all young people aged 18 to 30. Participation is free - volunteers also get board and lodging covered, insurance free of charge and pocket money for the duration of the project. The European Voluntary Service covers almost all countries in the world and the project can last up to 18 months. By participating in voluntary activities, young people can develop new skils and, therefore, improve their personal, educational and professional development. Plus, all volunteers receive a Youth Pass as a certificate of their learning experience during ther EVS service.

Are you an EVS volunteer? Read on!

The card you receive as a volunteer is a special edition of the European Youth Card dedicated to the young people in the European Voluntary Service. It is a thank you for your service from the European Commission and the European Youth Card Association. The youth cards encourage young people to travel and try out new opportunities throughout Europe – and to do this as cheaply as possible. In most cases, you can use your EVS European Youth Card in your hosting country and at home but the card is not present in all European countries. However, we are working hard to introduce the card in all European countries as soon as possible! The card is issued to all volunteers up to the age of 30, with a validity period of one year (or until the last day before the volunteer's 31st birthday).

Here is how the EVS European Youth Card works

Each month, EYCA receives a list of EVS volunteers who are about to start their service, after they have been registered with the EVS insurance company by their sending or hosting organisation. If we receive a volunteer's information in advance, the card is sent to his/her sending organisation, if it's less than two weeks until the beginning of his/her EVS, it is sent to the hosting organisation.

The cards are sent out monthly. Depending on the time the volunteer is registered with the insurance company, their card is delivered within the first or second month of their service. The sooner the volunteer is registered with the insurance company, the sooner they will receive the card.
